About the role

In the Microsoft Frontier Company Engineering team, you’ll deliver production-ready data solutions within a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) model, embedding within customer teams to solve challenges and drive measurable business impact using AI-driven data science across the full lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee acquisition of data sets necessary for project delivery and ensure data is properly formatted and described; address data gaps; drive ethics and privacy discussions around data collection and preparation.
  • Evaluate team models using metrics tied to business outcomes; recommend improvements; drive best practices for models and develop operational models that scale; conduct reviews of data analysis and modeling techniques; identify and invent new evaluation methods.
  • Research and maintain deep industry knowledge to identify strategy opportunities and contribute to thought leadership; write extensible code spanning multiple features; develop expertise in debugging techniques.
  • Define business, customer, and solution strategy goals; partner with other teams to identify and explore new opportunities; maintain a customer-oriented focus delivering pragmatic solutions aligned with data capabilities.
  • Coach engineers and cross-disciplinary partners in data science best practices and scale knowledge within the cross-discipline team.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience OR Master's Degree AND 5+ years data-science experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years data-science experience OR equivalent experience.
