About the role

Senior Engineering Manager leading the AI Onboarding team at Rippling, focusing on transforming onboarding experiences with AI-first platforms, self-serve growth, and cross-product infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of senior engineers across AI, onboarding, growth, and product platform infrastructure.
  • Own AI-First Onboarding: set technical direction, architecture, APIs, agent interfaces, and platform primitives for AI-driven onboarding workflows.
  • Drive Product-Led Growth: collaborate with Product and Design to enhance self-serve and PLG experiences.
  • Drive AI Adoption Across Rippling: build shared experiences and growth mechanisms to make AI adoption measurable and integrated.
  • Build Scalable Product Platforms: identify patterns and create durable platform abstractions to enable multiple product teams to integrate with shared experiences.
  • Own High-Traffic Customer Experiences: guide technical and product direction for key customer-facing surfaces.
  • Stay Deeply Technical: participate in architecture and system design across distributed systems, workflows, APIs, data models, and observability.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: align with Product, Design, Data, AI, Growth, and engineering leaders across product organizations.
  • Shape Technical Strategy: define long-term architecture and product strategy for the expanding team charter.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading strong engineering teams in fast-moving environments with success in hiring, developing, and retaining senior technical talent.
  • Strong technical depth in backend systems, distributed architecture, APIs, workflow systems, platform infrastructure, and production engineering.
  • AI-Native Product & Engineering Mindset: understanding of AI patterns, agents, LLM-powered apps, or intelligent automation is highly valuable.
  • Strong Product Sense: ability to derive customer problems and business outcomes beyond technical requirements.
  • Platform Thinking: experience building or leading product platforms serving multiple teams.
  • Exceptional Ambiguity Tolerance: ability to create clarity in evolving charter.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: influence across engineering, product, design, and business functions.
  • Data-Driven Problem Solving: reliance on experimentation, analytics, observability, and metrics.
  • Strong Executive Communication: translate complex decisions into clear narratives for leadership.
  • Growth Orientation: experience with activation, conversion, adoption, expansion as growth inputs.
