About the role

Senior Cloud Networking Engineer responsible for designing, operating, and expanding Airwallex’s global cloud network infrastructure across regions, ensuring high availability, security, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand Airwallex's global cloud network infrastructure into new regions and markets while meeting strict regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Design, implement, and operate highly available, secure production network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud environments spanning multiple global data centres and cloud regions.
  • Manage global connectivity over international leased lines and domestic internet connections, and own the configuration and troubleshooting of complex network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud environments.
  • Drive complex network incidents through to resolution as a first responder and escalation point, producing clear after-action reports.
  • Partner with InfoSec, DevOps, Database, Corporate IT, Facilities, and other teams to integrate network solutions and support business initiatives across multiple regions.
  • Improve operational visibility and reliability by maintaining comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend networking technologies and solutions, help shape the team's future structure, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Support resilient global operations through participation in an on-call rotation and scheduled network upgrades, including flexible scheduling when needed to minimise business disruption.

Qualifications

  • - CCNA / JNCIA-level experience demonstrating a strong networking foundation.
  • - Demonstrated experience in mixed networking-vendor environments (Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba or equivalent) in a global company.
  • - Strong AWS network design and operations experience, with at least three years in production.
  • - Strong documentation habits and understanding of change-control processes.
  • - Basic understanding of GCP networking concepts.
  • - Understanding of AI-assisted workflows and practical use cases.
  • - Proficiency with command-line configuration and troubleshooting for networking hardware (JunOS, IOS or equivalent).
  • - Strong understanding of core BGP and route-filtering principles.
  • - Ability to assess impact of changes and incidents and manage them appropriately.
  • - Outcome-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn new technologies.
