About the role

Microsoft AI (MAI) seeks an experienced Principal Data Scientist to join the Growth and Analytics team within MSN, focusing on large-scale data analysis, optimization of engagement, and improvement of recommendation systems and business health metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to drive business insights and act as a thought partner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand features, estimate impacts and drive engagement improvements based on big data insights.
  • Develop self-service dashboards and reports for various stakeholders.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and content performance to improve relevance and quality of recommendation systems.
  • Build a metrics system to measure Business Health and identify root causes when metrics move.
  • Conduct business modeling to identify growth opportunities and initiate projects with positive long-term ROI.
  • Design and conduct A/B tests to evaluate algorithm performance and propose iterative improvements.
  • Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience OR Master's degree AND 5+ years OR Bachelor's degree AND 7+ years OR equivalent experience.
