About the role

Senior Engineer role focused on Buildkite Agent, the open-source agent used across machines, clouds, and hosted environments. Owns critical infrastructure at scale, combining infrastructure and AI agents work with end-to-end ownership, incident handling, and roadmap input.

Responsibilities

  • Ship: Break big problems into small production-ready tasks; own features end-to-end from idea to rollout and post-production handling.
  • Own: Deep problem ownership, participate in Sweep rotation, contribute to roadmap, handle incidents and mitigate problem embers.
  • Communicate: Explain work and risks clearly to engineers and non-engineers; pair, review, and provide feedback; apply AI tooling effectively.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Go or Ruby (Go is primary across agent and infrastructure; Ruby on Rails backbone) with the ability to move between languages as needed.
