About the role

Head of People Operations responsible for building and leading the People Ops function across France, Spain, and the US, scaling from 100+ to 200+ employees in 18 months, and driving automation and AI-enhanced processes while ensuring compliance and a high-quality employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the People Ops team: Hire, coach, and grow the two People Operations Managers; organize ownership across countries and specialties with backups.
  • Own our core people processes end-to-end: Payroll, contracts, benefits, time off, and onboarding/offboarding administration across France, Spain, and the US.
  • Anticipate scale: project 18 months ahead, develop country playbooks, clean org data, and reliable workforce reporting.
  • Own systems and data: HRIS ownership, automate processes (with AI and BizOps support), improve employee-facing experiences.
  • Own compliance: ensure compliance with French and Spanish labor law; anticipate regulatory changes; keep documentation ready for audits/fundraising/due diligence.
  • Deliver a human employee experience: ensure fast, accurate, discreet interactions with clear policies.
  • Partner across the company: collaborate with Finance, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and Workplace Management.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in People Operations or HR, including several years managing a team in high-growth tech startups or scale-ups.
  • Experience standing up or rebuilding a People Ops function.
  • Deep command of French payroll and labor law; exposure to Spanish or US employment matters is a plus.
  • Systems thinker with HRIS ownership and design of scalable processes.
  • Analytical with ability to build trusted headcount, payroll, and budget reporting.
  • Attention to detail with reliability in People Ops details.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; able to operate in fast-moving, ambiguous environments; ownership mindset.
  • AI fluency; daily use of AI tools and vision for automation in People Ops.
  • Discretion handling sensitive matters; strong integrity.
  • Manager-coach capable of growing the team.
  • Hands-on, high standards; able to run a payroll cycle if needed.
  • Languages: Fluent in French and English; Spanish a plus.
  • Location: Based in France or Spain.
