About the role

Senior software engineer role within Microsoft Azure Data, focused on building and operating a next-generation data movement/replication service for Fabric Mirroring, with emphasis on low latency data transfer across source systems to Fabric and strong participation in design, testing, and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Leads by example within the team by producing extensible and maintainable code; optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance, maintainability, ROI; applies metrics to drive quality and stability of code and follows coding patterns and best practices.
  • Applies debugging tools and examines logs, telemetry, and other data to verify assumptions; proactively writes code to prevent issues and conducts retrospective debugging to identify root causes.
  • Reviews code to ensure quality, reliability, accuracy, and scalability; participates in code reviews and provides feedback to drive adherence to best practices; considers diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability in reviews.
  • Leads architecture discussions, creates design proposals, tests design hypotheses, and determines technology interaction; partially owns solution architecture and develops design documents; ensures security and compliance.
  • Independently plans testing and quality assurance; defines success criteria for tests; expands test coverage and integrates automation in testing plans.
  • Identifies dependencies and designs interaction with other teams and technologies; assesses back-end dependencies and security/performance implications; drives reliability and optimizes dependency chains.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to align on user requirements and feedback; ensures continuous feedback loops measuring customer value and usage patterns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
  • 5+ years professional experience in enterprise level distributed systems
