About the role

Paralegal role at Atticus combining traditional paralegal duties with startup/operator responsibilities in a remote, fast-growing Series C company focused on disability benefits and insurance compensation. Opportunity for social impact, career path within Representation Lab or toward law/business school.

Responsibilities

  • Interview a client, analyze their medical records, and draft a persuasive memo arguing why the SSA should consider them disabled.
  • Work with a client’s local representative to run down missing paperwork at SSA
  • Take on an inefficient workflow that’s slowing the team down (e.g., processing case updates), scope an improvement, get team buy-in, and execute the improvement.

Qualifications

  • You have experience in a professional role that required a substantial amount of client-facing work (like a case manager) or lawyer-facing work (like a paralegal).
  • You are a resourceful team-player ready to dive into a scrappy startup environment where you will learn quickly and get your hands dirty.
  • You are comfortable in a variety of interpersonal conversations; you can be empathetic and kind when speaking with people in a moment of crisis, and can be thoughtful and organized when interacting with attorneys.
  • You have a demonstrated commitment to doing good and helping people.
