About the role

Senior Engineering Manager at Atticus owning a product pod, accountable for team health, growth, and delivery. Hands-on leadership shaping roadmaps, mentoring engineers, and contributing to technical work. Multiple EM roles across product areas including consumer experiments, intake and ML matching, scaling tools for attorneys, and AI-native legal product.

Responsibilities

  • Own one of Atticus' product pods and report to the VP of Engineering
  • Shape and drive the pod's roadmap and goals
  • Manage and develop a cross-functional team (4-6 engineers, a PM, and a designer)
  • Review PRs, contribute to architecture decisions, and stay close to code
  • Coach team members and manage performance
  • Participate in day-to-day technical work and ensure quality of output
  • Work across multiple focus areas: consumer product experimentation, client intake and ML matching, scaling tools for attorneys, and AI-native legal product

Qualifications

  • Managed a team of at least three engineers for more than 3 years
  • Experience growing engineers (including senior ICs) and conducting hard performance conversations
  • Experience in a high-performing product organization with strong PMs and designers
  • Ability to operate with ambiguity and limited resources (startup or intrapreneurial environment)
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding tools in the past year and strategic view on their use
  • Hands-on; writes code, reviews it, and contributes to system design
