About the role

Senior/staff engineer focused on CI/CD, testing, and deployment safety for Vapi’s release infrastructure, owning systems behind safe releases (Argo CD, Terraform, Atlantis) and driving improvements in release tooling, observability, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • - 30 Days: Map Vapi’s release architecture end to end, baseline CI/test/deploy performance, identify failure modes, and ship initial improvements.
  • - 60 Days: Own the release-tooling roadmap and operating health, remove bottlenecks, improve observability, and automate slow or failure-prone workflows.
  • - 90 Days: Establish a repeatable model for safe, fast releases with measurable gains, deliver self-service workflows and guardrails, and set longer-term release-infrastructure roadmap.

Qualifications

  • - Evidence of owning critical CI/CD or release infrastructure at meaningful scale and driving measurable cross-team improvements.
  • - Strong distributed-systems fundamentals and ability to diagnose failures across build, test, deployment, and infrastructure layers.
  • - Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes-based delivery systems and infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Argo CD, Terraform, and Atlantis or comparable systems.
  • - Habit of automating repetitive work, investing in testing and passive defenses, and using data to prove system improvements.
  • - Deep curiosity, quick context gathering, and the ability to adapt as architecture/product evolves.
  • - Low-ego, clear communicator who owns outcomes; familiarity with AI coding tools; experience as an SRE with development frameworks like multi-agent workflows; knowledge of TypeScript and Go is a plus.
