About the role

Engineering Manager leading a team of four engineers across billing, fraud, and outbound telephony. Focus on people leadership, reliability, incident response, and scalable enterprise systems in a hybrid San Francisco environment.

Responsibilities

  • Learn billing, fraud, and outbound telephony systems and align on priorities (30 days).
  • Strengthen planning, delivery, service ownership, on-call and incident response practices; guide architecture and code reviews; deliver improvements and growth goals (60 days).
  • Own engineering delivery against a shared roadmap for billing, pricing, packaging, fraud, and outbound telephony; prioritize improvements using delivery and reliability data; plan hiring and system investments (90 days).

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated engineering management experience across coaching, performance, leveling, and career development; ability to assess promotion readiness and motivate engineers.
  • Experience designing scalable, reliable enterprise systems; billing systems experience preferred; AI expertise not required.
  • Strong hands-on coding, architecture, and system design skills; able to provide informed opinions in code reviews and trusted technical leadership.
  • Experience owning reliable services and improving on-call and incident response practices; experience hiring and building a small engineering team is a plus.
  • Experience partnering with a PM with ability to translate product requirements into technical plans; constructive in disagreements.
  • Experience in trust and safety, fraud/risk, voice/telephony, or outbound-call compliance is a plus; scaling a newly formed team is a plus.
