About the role
Solutions Architects are the architectural foundation of Snowflake's Observe post-sales practice, delivering end-to-end observability architectures for enterprise deployments and ensuring scalable, production-ready implementations.
Responsibilities
- Take an active role in technical discovery on SA-attached engagements, working with the Implementation Engineer to assess telemetry, infrastructure, data volumes, tooling landscape, and requirements
- Design end-to-end observability architectures on Observe, including ingestion, pipeline topology, data modeling, enrichment/normalization, alerting, and retention
- Define the implementation approach and architecture blueprint for IE execution
- Validate configurations, pipelines, and data models meet production-scale requirements before execution
- Advise customers on OpenTelemetry adoption strategies
- Participate in architecture and planning phases from kickoff to handoff
- Produce high-quality handoff artifacts (reference architectures, design decision records, implementation plans, configuration standards)
- Remain available to Implementation teams during execution for blockers or architectural decisions
- Conduct go-live architecture reviews to ensure implementation matches the design and is production-ready
- Design target architectures and cutover strategies for migrations from other observability platforms to Observe
- Identify architectural gaps and technical debt and design scalable replacements
- Collaborate with leadership to develop internal reference architectures and runbooks
- Build and maintain field demo infrastructure for pre-sales and IE teams
- Capture reusable patterns and assetize them for broader use
- Serve as a technical authority on complex/scenarios and mentor junior engineers
- Contribute beyond core Observe architecture including integrations, process re-engineering, and AI refactoring
- Provide feedback to Product/Engineering to influence the roadmap

- Deep expertise in observability platforms and telemetry at scale (logs, metrics, traces)
- Strong hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry (instrumentation, collector, exporters, multi-signal pipelines)
- Proven ability to lead migrations from Splunk, ELK, Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace to modern alternatives
- Experience assessing complex enterprise environments and delivering durable, scalable architectures
- Solid understanding of AWS, GCP, Azure; containerized workloads and Kubernetes environments
- Strong communication skills with engineering teams and senior leadership
- Experience producing architecture diagrams, design decision records, runbooks, and implementation plans
