About the role

Global, remote-first controller leading a finance team across revenue accounting, close, payroll, and treasury for a subscription and usage-based business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and quarterly close, GL, AP/AR, payroll, and account reconciliations, delivering accurate, timely US GAAP financials.
  • Own revenue accounting and serve as technical accounting authority on subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606), including ARR-to-GAAP bridge and delta explanation to leadership and board.
  • Author technical accounting position memos on contract modifications, SSP allocation, variable consideration, and capitalized contract costs.
  • Own equity compensation accounting (ASC 718): grant accuracy, 409A timing, expense, modifications, and cap-table integrity.
  • Manage and grow a team of ~7, with room to scale, building trust quickly and developing leads beneath you.
  • Build a control framework suited to a global, remote-first, private company with subscription and usage-based revenue, keeping the books audit-ready.
  • Own our accounting systems roadmap and drive automation across close and reporting.
  • Own select treasury operations, including cash management and banking relationships, and partner on FX exposure monitoring given multi-currency footprint.
  • Run external audit relationship and coordinate with external tax partners on compliance, provisions, and filings.
  • Manage the realities of a distributed, remote-first global team: statutory accounting coordination, payroll and contractor controls, entity reporting, and collaboration with Legal, HR, and Tax on international compliance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leading a team through managers or leads.
  • Big 4 (or equivalent top-tier public accounting) foundation.
  • Deep US GAAP mastery, with strength in subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606).
  • Proven automation or AI deployment in accounting with measurable results (e.g., eliminated manual reconciliation, reduced close time, lowered error rate).
  • Experience scaling an accounting function that was already running.
  • Proven track record with external audits and keeping books audit-ready.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with credibility partnering with senior cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Nice to have: internal controls or SOX-readiness experience; remote-first/globally distributed company experience; M&A or deal accounting exposure; CPA license (active or inactive).
