About the role

Senior Engineering Manager on the Accounting Platform team, driving technical and operational transformation to scale Rippling’s global accounting system with AI-driven solutions and modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Own charter and design of core product pillar from the ground up, leading initiatives across the entire development lifecycle, from defining and scoping new product functionality to deploying critical systems for scale, accuracy, and performance.
  • Lead technical and operational transformation to unify and scale accounting operations across multiple countries.
  • Deeply understand complex systems, read code, debug production issues, review architecture, and identify root causes.
  • Drive stability and autonomy in high-toil, operationally demanding systems by identifying systemic issues and implementing fixes.
  • Own both technical architecture and product outcomes for scalable platform systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Payroll, Compliance, Spend Engineering, and global stakeholders.
  • Set roadmaps, define milestones, and ship in high-ambiguity environments.
  • Manage and develop teams (minimum 5 years in a managerial role, including 2+ years managing managers, with 7–8 years as an IC prior) and lead across distributed teams.
  • Bring domain affinity in accounting, payroll, fintech, or high-correctness financial systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in a managerial role, including 2+ years managing managers, with 7–8 years as an IC prior
  • Total 12–15 years (IC + Managerial)
  • Experience in accounting, payroll, fintech, or high-correctness financial systems preferred
  • Clear and effective communication across distributed teams and with non-engineering stakeholders
