About the role

Senior engineer role focused on end-to-end ownership of navigation features for Samsara's Commercial Navigation, spanning mobile, backend, and web surfaces with emphasis on real-time data, UX, and platform-wide coordination in a remote US/Canada setting.

Responsibilities

  • Own Features End to End: Take full ownership of navigation initiatives from design through production rollout, including follow-up on quality, adoption, and customer impact after launch.
  • Deliver with High Engineering Standards: Write maintainable, well-tested code and maintain high standards in design and code review; improve observability, testing, and production reliability; leverage AI-assisted workflows judiciously.
  • Build Across the Product: Design and ship features across mobile, backend services, and web—driver navigation experiences, admin visibility, optimized routing, and safety-focused navigation capabilities.
  • Turn Ambiguity into Action: Clarify what is being built and why; learn from fleet managers/drivers; align with product priorities; define success metrics and milestones; communicate risks and tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with engineers, product managers, designers, and Maps/Telematics partners to deliver cohesive navigation experiences end to end.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles: Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Proven experience shipping customer-facing software in production across multiple surfaces (mobile, web, and/or backend services) with depth in at least one surface and ability to contribute in others
  • Comfortable using AI development tools with judgment in day-to-day engineering
