About the role

Senior Engineering Manager leading and scaling the data engineering function to modernize architecture, improve platform reliability, and drive data-driven decisions across Immersive. Remote UK role reporting to VP Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a talented team of 8+ data engineers, driving a culture of continuous learning, inclusion, and technical excellence through coaching, mentoring, and clear goal-setting
  • Define and execute the data engineering strategy in close alignment with product and business priorities, driving the roadmap for modernization, architecture improvements, and platform reliability
  • Champion the modernization of our data infrastructure evolving our cloud data warehouse, orchestration layer, and tooling to support scale, performance, and data quality
  • Set and monitor clear team performance metrics, delivery timelines, and quality standards; ensure projects ship on schedule while maintaining high engineering standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, analytics engineering, and commercial teams, acting as the bridge between data engineering and the wider business
  • Advocate for scalable, secure, and future-proof data solutions; guide adoption of modern data engineering best practices, frameworks, and tools across the team
  • Represent the data engineering function in business forums and with senior leadership, articulating the near- and long-term value of investments in data infrastructure
  • Build an inclusive, high-performing culture where diverse perspectives are valued and team members feel empowered to grow, innovate, and own their work

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading data engineering or data platform teams, with a strong coaching and mentorship style.
  • Deep understanding of modern data architectures, data integration best practices, and the evolving landscape of cloud-based data platforms (hands-on coding not required).
  • Credibility engaging with technical and non-technical audiences, able to set vision, inspire teams, and communicate complex solutions simply.
  • Skilled at managing stakeholders, balancing priorities, aligning competing interests, and making data-driven decisions in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience defining and executing data or technology strategies, with success measuring and monitoring team effectiveness and value delivery.
  • You are a collaborative, inclusive leader who values different perspectives and builds highly engaged teams
