About the role

Senior product designer for Citizen's consumer mobile experience and product owner of its revenue surface, reporting to the Founder and CEO; responsible for building a live, AI-native consumer safety product with an emphasis on real-time video, onboarding, subscriptions, and design operations powered by agents.

Responsibilities

  • The consumer mobile experience (iOS first, Android close behind): onboarding, the map, the incident experience, live video, alerts, Premium, and the system that holds them together.
  • Category-defining work: live, AI-generated, ambient experiences that do not exist yet (e.g., notifications showing the scene, safety app that talks back, pocket-aware interface).
  • The revenue product: paywalls, plan mix, trials, upgrade path, onboarding payments, and everything a paying member sees; lead roadmap, experiments, and ship decisions; run by agents with Growth analytics support.
  • The design system: visual language across product, brand, and live broadcast studio; ownership and evolution to enable reliable agent production.
  • Prototyping and validation: high-fidelity prototypes rapidly; usability sessions, funnel data, live experiments; analysis delivered before meetings.
  • The machine: design workflows, determine human-in-the-loop placement, driving all above as a cohesive stream.
  • Partnership: daily collaboration with Founder/CEO; close work with iOS/Android engineering, Marketing, Real-Time Operations, and agents.

Qualifications

  • A decade designing consumer mobile products used by millions, end-to-end delivery and shipped experiences.
  • Strong discernment to pick a few variants worth a human's attention and justify choices concisely.
  • Track record creating something that did not exist before (new interaction/category/product that felt like the future).
  • High agency: able to define direction, ship, and build missing tools when needed.
  • Experience building with AI in workflows; replacing parts of workflow with agents; thoughtful about AI tool capabilities.
  • Systems thinking across type, color, motion, sound; design language that survives team and agent usage.
  • Owned outcomes such as paywalls, pricing, onboarding tests; comfortable acting as product manager when needed.
  • Fluent in video and motion; prototyping at high fidelity on real devices; capable of getting ideas onto a phone without heavy engineering involvement.
  • Mission-driven with a focus on safety and real-world impact.
  • Confident decision-maker who accepts direct feedback from a founder with strong opinions.
