About the role

Backend Engineer on the Financial Data team focused on building and operating data infrastructure and pipelines to ingest, transform, and serve financial datasets at scale, enabling Rogo’s AI and ensuring data quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Own critical data infrastructure: ingest, transform, and serve financial datasets end-to-end from conception to production.
  • Architect for scale and performance: design scalable, cost-effective data processing pipelines with low latency and high throughput.
  • Drive data integration: connect heterogeneous financial datasets from market data vendors, proprietary sources, and third-party providers into coherent, queryable platforms.
  • Enable AI with great data: collaborate with the Core AI team to structure and serve data to maximize model and retrieval performance, with data pipelines powered by AI techniques.
  • Handle customer data with care: build secure, compliant integrations that protect enterprise data from ingestion to serving.
  • Raise the bar: write high-quality code and make decisions that elevate the team.
  • Be a cultural anchor: foster learning, craft, and ownership through daily actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building complex, data-intensive backend systems.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with GCP or equivalent cloud stack, building and scaling production-grade services.
  • Deep expertise in Python for backend and API systems; proficiency in at least one strongly typed language (Rust, C++, or Java), with Java a strong plus.
  • Mastery in designing large-scale distributed systems — asynchronous patterns, streaming, queuing, caching, observability.
  • Strong command of relational databases and SQL; experience with NoSQL, in-memory (Redis), and columnar stores (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).
  • Proven experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines (streaming and batch) integrating heterogeneous financial data sources.
  • 3+ years of experience managing or working with globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence engineering direction without direct authority.
  • Track record of shipping high-quality products in unstructured, fast-moving environments with autonomy.
  • Demonstrated passion for corporate finance, capital markets, and financial data.
