About the role

Director level leader responsible for setting multi-year vision for product partnerships across logistics, retail technology, and enterprise products; personally owning top-tier relationships and shaping build-vs-buy-vs-partner decisions to accelerate Instacart’s strategic objectives in grocery technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement a multi-year partnership strategy across Logistics, Retail Technology, and Enterprise products; influence which product bets to pursue internally.
  • Close complex, first-of-a-kind technology or strategic partnerships with C-suite/executive counterparts; own end-to-end deals from sourcing to launch.
  • Develop and scale a partnerships organization with clear ownership, governance, and performance frameworks; mentor senior Managers and Managers.
  • Act as a strategic partner to Product and Engineering, influencing roadmaps and build-buy-partner decisions with external perspectives.
  • Establish senior relationship ownership with Instacart’s most critical external partners, earning trust and surfacing key opportunities for business impact.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in business development, product partnerships, or strategic alliances in technology or closely adjacent industries, with end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-stakeholder deals from sourcing through launch.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing partnerships teams, including managing managers and structuring a function for scale.
  • Proven track record of closing complex, non-standard technology or strategic partnership agreements — including first-of-a-kind deals — with C-suite or executive-level counterparts.
  • Experience serving as a true strategic partner to Product and Engineering: influencing roadmap and build-buy-partner decisions, not just executing alongside them.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including business case development to evaluate partnership economics and communicate ROI to senior leadership.
  • Comfortable operating without a roadmap — bringing clarity and direction to a team even when the path forward isn’t obvious.
