About the role

Critical Environment Technician (CET) in Microsoft CO+I responsible for maintaining datacenter critical infrastructure, supervising CE equipment, incident response, and contributing to procedures and safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an operations specialist in one major area of CE operations (e.g., electrical, mechanical, controls, generators) and work on advanced tasks independently.
  • Inspect and supervise critical environment-related facility equipment (e.g., controls, HVAC, mechanical systems), building, and grounds for unsafe or abnormal conditions and escalate per policies.
  • Utilize CMMS to track equipment assets and complete work orders for maintenance.
  • Safely and quickly respond to and lead onsite incident response teams for abnormal conditions; coordinate with other facilities professionals for corrective repairs without supervision.
  • Enhance, develop new or follow existing EOPs, MOPs, and SOPs related to CE operations and incidents.
  • Under minimal oversight, perform maintenance (planned, predictive, corrective) and repairs for equipment (electrical, mechanical, cooling) following MOPs/SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within trained discipline.
  • Provide consultation to lower-level colleagues in troubleshooting systems and problems.
  • Understand and ensure safety and security requirements (JHAs, EH&S, toolbox talks) and follow business processes to perform work safely and reliably.
  • Embodies Microsoft culture and values.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent AND some experience in mission critical services work (e.g., data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing) OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work shifts, including non-standard hours (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays).
