About the role

Oversee and maintain operational excellence of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure in data centers, ensuring service continuity, risk mitigation, safety, reliability, and efficiency within Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within a data center environment, ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance programs
  • Ensure uptime and reliability of critical environment systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance oversight, and risk mitigation
  • Lead operational excellence by executing and governing processes such as maintenance procedures, incident reviews (RCAs), and change management
  • Drive safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to Microsoft standards and immediately addressing risks or incidents
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering teams, vendors, and landlord partners to optimize datacenter performance and resolve issues
  • Identify and reduce risk, minimizing human-error and high-impact incidents year over year
  • Support emergency response readiness, acting as an escalation point for facilities-related incidents
  • Deliver efficiency outcomes by advancing cost optimization and energy efficiency initiatives and support data-driven operations through the accurate measurement and reporting of key metrics, including power, temperature, and service-level (SLA) performance

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND experience mission critical services work/applied learning experience OR extensive equivalent experience
  • Experience operating, maintaining, or supporting critical electrical and/or mechanical infrastructure systems (e.g., power distribution, UPS, generators, cooling systems, HVAC, chillers, pumps, or related equipment)
  • Valid driver’s license required due to site-to-site travel
  • On-site role with limited public transport; own transport advised
  • Data Center Operations Management IC4 level background (France) preferred or equivalent experience
