About the role

Senior-level software engineering role at Samsara focused on defining technical strategy, building full-stack AI-powered products, and leading cross-team initiatives to scale platform and product capabilities. Remote role open to US residents with potential to work across backend, frontend, and possibly mobile, delivering zero-to-one solutions at billion-dollar scale.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas and drive them to completion.
  • Define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, from backend services and APIs to the customer-facing UI.
  • Design and ship full-stack features end to end across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile, delivering AI-powered products.
  • Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous real-world problems into technical plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Build and scale systems behind AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and workflows that put intelligence into operators' hands.
  • Raise the bar for the engineering team through code reviews, design reviews, mentorship, and setting quality standards.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as the company scales.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of software design and development experience, including building and operating production systems at scale.
  • Strong full-stack fundamentals across backend services, APIs, and frontend (web or mobile).
  • Proficiency in modern languages and frameworks (Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar).
  • Experience leading cross-team or cross-organization projects from inception through rollout.
  • Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products (ability to translate AI capabilities into customer-facing products).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Track record of delivering zero-to-one products or meaningful system improvements.
