About the role

Senior Privacy Counsel based in Vancouver, joining Match Group's global Privacy Team with two core focus areas: Cybersecurity incident response guidance and global emerging privacy, cyber, and data regulation. Hybrid role in Vancouver requiring three days in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead counsel for global cybersecurity matters as a core member of Match Group's incident response team by advising on breach assessment, regulatory notification obligations, and legal strategy across jurisdictions

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with a law degree and bar admission in BC
  • 5+ years of legal experience with privacy, cybersecurity, AI and/or technology law
  • Hands-on experience advising on cybersecurity incident response and regulatory notification across multiple jurisdictions
  • Working knowledge of GDPR, PIPEDA, US state privacy and cybersecurity laws, willingness to learn additional laws
  • Understanding of digital products data flows, APIs, SDKs, AI/ML; ability to engage with technical/product teams
  • Effective legal communicator able to advise senior leadership and translate regulatory requirements into actionable guidance
  • Ability to thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and manage multiple high-priority matters
  • Self-starter with initiative and independent legal judgment
  • IAPP certifications
  • Comfort applying AI tools to improve efficiency
  • Commitment to continuous learning in a dynamic regulatory landscape
