About the role

Accounting Lead responsible for end-to-end accounting, including monthly close, revenue recognition, client billing, payroll, equity administration, AP, and reporting for Tribe AI, a fast-growing AI-native services company.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close: bank and card reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and balance sheet reconciliations; book stock-based compensation, lease entries (ASC 842), and FX revaluation on foreign balances; own the close calendar, review journal entries, and shorten the close
  • Revenue and billing: own revenue recognition and the deferred revenue rollforward under ASC 606 for project-based work; issue client invoices on contract schedules; review billable amounts, milestones, and hours; resolve invoicing exceptions; manage AR and follow up on aged balances
  • Payroll, contractors and compensation: run bi-weekly payroll across US and international entities; onboard contractors; calculate quarterly sales commissions and bonuses; own 401(k) administration and Form 5500
  • AP and spend: run weekly payment runs; review major vendor invoices; administer corporate card and expense platform; manage corporate mail and registered-agent correspondence
  • Equity administration: issue stock grants, process terminations and option exercises, track 83(b) elections, run 409A valuation
  • Reporting, audit, and compliance: produce month-end financial statements; manage annual audit; issue tax forms (1099, W-2, 1042-S); own tax return package and compliance calendar; maintain chart of accounts and perform access reviews

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience; month-end close ownership
  • Hands-on ASC 606 experience with services or project-based revenue
  • Working knowledge of ASC 842 and stock-based compensation accounting
  • Experience with multi-country payroll accounting and multi-currency balances
  • Payroll end-to-end experience and equity/benefits administration
  • Fluency with modern cloud accounting/ERP systems (NetSuite or Sage Intacct tier) and spend-management tools
  • CPA or public accounting foundation is a plus
  • Experience using AI tools in daily work and interest in modern finance function
  • Process-oriented with ability to document and communicate with non-finance partners
