About the role

Role leading state and local government affairs in the Midwest and Central region for Instacart, engaging policymakers, shaping strategies, and representing the company in industry coalitions and public affairs activities.

Responsibilities

  • Relationships with key policymakers and influential state and local government-oriented stakeholders across the Midwest and Central region
  • Crafting and executing legislative, regulatory, and political strategies to achieve state and local policy goals
  • Representing Instacart in midwestern and central region trade associations and industry coalitions; building third-party allies
  • Creating state and local policy solutions and advocacy campaigns with Policy Research and Development, legal partners, internal stakeholders, and Public Engagement team
  • Educating cross-functional stakeholders on legislation and regulatory matters; reporting policy developments regularly (weekly reports and internal materials); managing annual budgets and external consultants to reflect evolving government affairs needs

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of state or local government, policy, or corporate government relations experience
  • Established policymaker relationships and comfort interacting with elected officials and executives
  • Deep understanding of state and local lawmaking and regulatory processes
  • Strategic thinker with polished oral and written presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and balance long- and short-term priorities to deliver results
  • Resourceful and entrepreneurial with a bias towards action
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Collaborative with a positive, can-do attitude
