People Operations Generalist
About the role
Hands-on People Operations role focused on US and Canada payroll, employee lifecycle, compliance, benefits, and operational execution in a hybrid Midtown NYC office.
Responsibilities
- Own People Operations across the full employee lifecycle for US and Canada (onboarding, changes, leaves, documentation, off-boarding).
- Ensure employee records are accurate and consistent across systems.
- Manage payroll inputs and coordination for US and Canada; partner with payroll providers and Finance to ensure timely, accurate, compliant payroll.
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies; continuously improve payroll processes.
- Act as operational point of reference for payroll, benefits, PTO, leaves, documentation and People processes.
- Coordinate onboarding requirements, employment documentation and operational setup for new hires.
- Manage exits (voluntary/involuntary) including payroll, benefits, documentation and system updates.
- Maintain accurate employee data across HR systems; own recurring workflows and SOPs; automate where possible.
- Support administration of employee benefits across US and Canada; provide guidance to employees.
Qualifications
- Hands-on payroll experience in both the US and Canada is essential.
- 5+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations or similar generalist role.
- Strong experience managing onboarding, compensation changes, leaves and offboarding.
