About the role

General Accountant supporting multiple subsidiary accounting with responsibilities including month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, audit support, and analytics in a hybrid role based in Mississauga, Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile and manage balance sheet accounts by completing general ledger reconciliations (fixed assets, prepaid assets, accrued payables, bank/cash), understanding underlying balances, investigating, and resolving discrepancies within month
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and annual GL close activities with diligence and accuracy, while adhering to timelines
  • Review income statement and balance sheet trending against historical data and budgets, resolve any identified issues, and document explanations
  • Maintain control over GL inputs by ensuring that any system reports are complete and accurate, and all GL attributes have been correctly captured in entries performed by your team and others
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable and FP&A teams to resolve matters pertaining to GL coding discrepancies
  • Maintain and enhance current process to improve day to day and month end processes while maintaining all required controls and documentation

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of accounting experience
  • Ability to multitask and meet scheduled deadlines
  • Solid accounting knowledge with the ability to apply general concepts to unique situations
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent (bonus)
  • Enrollment or working towards CPA designation (bonus)
  • Experience with NetSuite is an asset (bonus)
  • Experience with Copilot and Claude Cowork is an asset (bonus)
