About the role

Microsoft Commerce Platforms seeks Software Engineers II and Senior Software Engineers to design, build, and operate cloud-native applications, distributed services, and large-scale data systems with AI-powered capabilities. On-site role with three days per week at Redmond, WA or Charlotte, NC offices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and operate scalable, secure, and highly reliable cloud-native applications, distributed services, and data platforms.
  • Develop end-to-end experiences using C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, Azure services, REST APIs, and modern web technologies.
  • Build reusable and robust data processing frameworks, data models, metrics, and data contracts.
  • Build intelligent experiences using Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, semantic search, and workflow orchestration where appropriate.
  • Translate complex requirements into high-quality technical designs and scalable solutions.
  • Create and own architecture proposals, implementation plans, engineering documentation, and operational readiness plans.
  • Modernize platforms to improve scalability, resiliency, observability, security, compliance, accessibility, maintainability, and developer productivity.
  • Use Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, secure development practices, and AI-assisted engineering tools to maintain high engineering standards.
  • Improve live-site health through monitoring, telemetry, troubleshooting, incident response, automation, performance optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and collaborate with other engineers and contribute to design reviews, engineering best practices, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages and frameworks such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, Scala, Python, Java, and Rest APIs.
