About the role

Hands-on Senior Software Engineer role on Azure Front Door's Linux Infrastructure team. Build and operate Linux, Kubernetes, and fleet management platforms powering a globally distributed edge infrastructure. Drive end-to-end initiatives from idea to production, focusing on system-level problems, performance, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Scope, design, implement, validate, and deploy Linux infrastructure capabilities from requirements through production operation.
  • Build and operate Linux, Kubernetes, and fleet management platforms that support Azure Front Door's globally distributed edge infrastructure.
  • Improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency through software engineering, automation, and systems-level optimization.
  • Investigate production issues using logs, telemetry, diagnostics, and distributed tracing, and implement durable solutions that reduce incident recurrence and improve service reliability.
  • Evaluate and integrate advancements in Linux, Kubernetes, networking, operating systems, hardware acceleration, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
  • Design and operate infrastructure with observability, resiliency, security, compliance, and maintainability as core engineering principles throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Develop tools, automation, and engineering systems that improve productivity, operational excellence, and platform quality, while supporting other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python - OR equivalent experience.
