About the role

Principal Software Engineer in Ads Billing team focusing on design, development, and ownership of critical Ads Billing systems and platforms with global access, including rev-rec, budget control, taxation, invoicing, and finance reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of critical product and platform areas of the Ads Billing system.
  • Set a high technical and quality bar for agentic systems and developer-facing tooling.
  • Design and ship performant, reliable terminal experiences that developers and advertisers depend on for daily work.
  • Use data, benchmarks, and direct user feedback to guide iteration and investment.
  • Collaborate across org boundaries to enable other teams to build Ads products on top of a shared foundation.
  • Influence architecture, technical direction, and engineering standards beyond your immediate team.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and work with team members by developing and following the playbook, on-call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiating actions to restore system/product/service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Skills

Required:Programming in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonSystem design
Nice to have:AI/ML knowledge for production tools (AI agent/MCP)
