About the role

Senior Software Engineer in the Microsoft Ads Billing team focused on building global billing services, platforms, and AI-powered tools to support advertisers and monetize Bing Ads revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with PMs to identify and determine advertisers' requirements for multiple billing scenarios (revenue recognition, budget control, credit enforcement, invoicing, financial reporting, etc.) and own/design/ship features according to requirements and timelines.
  • Drives identification of dependencies and development of design documents for product, application, service and platform.
  • Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and ROI.
  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and work items; acts as DRI and follows playbooks, including on-call monitoring and incident response.
  • Sets a high technical and quality bar for agentic systems and developer-facing tooling.
  • Designs and ships performant, reliable terminal experiences that developers depend on for daily work.
  • Uses data, benchmarks, and user feedback to guide iteration and investment; seeks new knowledge and adapts to trends to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of the Billing system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.

Required:Programming in C/C++/C#/Java/JavaScript/PythonSoftware design and system architecture
Nice to have:On-call / incident responseAI agent/MCP production experience
