About the role

Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT) responsible for staging, setting up, deploying hardware, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and decommissioning hardware per standard operating procedures in a Microsoft data center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifies causes of issues, and replaces faulty components with minimal disruption.
  • Performs post-execution quality checks and verifies grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling in accordance with safety protocols, deployment standards, and Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
  • Decommissions hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance.
  • Follows procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate data center operations management units, Technician Leads, and engineering specialists.
  • Assists and provides guidance to other technicians to complete challenging or complex tasks.
  • Completes required training aligned to the role and workload; observes more experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience and relevant on-the-job training.
  • Contributes to a positive team environment by sharing information, participating in team meetings, and staying apprised of others' work.
  • Shows accountability for service quality, completeness, and user experience; demonstrates ownership of data center facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in IT or any computer course or equivalent and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components AND 3+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to work shifts, including non-standard hours, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: must pass upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
