About the role

Senior Software Engineer within the Metrics Infrastructure team to build the foundational layer of the Time Series Database for Azure Monitor, delivering near-real-time telemetry and health insights at global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and code reviews across feature areas and participate in all stages of the engineering lifecycle (initial research and discovery, quick iteration on promising concepts, solution prototyping and development, deployment and live site support).
  • Developers in the team are expected to wear multiple hats and demonstrate breadth, depth, and leadership.
  • Work with multiple partner teams and deploy across all Azure regions.
  • Grow in areas such as distributed systems, big data on near real-time latencies, and innovation within the product; identify bottlenecks and engineer performance-focused data pipelines.
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable and maintainable code.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge distribution.
  • Share knowledge by giving tech talks and evangelizing engineering best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
