About the role

Embedded accounting professional within the Product organization responsible for ensuring accounting practicality and integrity across FloQast’s product roadmap, collaborating with product and engineering to align AI/automation features with real-world accounting workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Be the accounting expert for R&D: act as the accountant in the room for engineers, product managers and designers across the whole product; answer accounting questions and explain close processes.
  • Help teams plan and design: shape requirements, review designs and specifications, flag where a feature will not work for real accounting workflows before it is built.
  • Troubleshoot and unblock: work through accounting questions, edge cases or unexpected data to help teams move forward.
  • Explain and conceptualise: translate accounting concepts into terms engineers can build from, and explain challenges to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Serve as internal accounting subject matter resource: help teams understand operational accounting context behind what they are building.
  • Translate day-to-day close scenarios into product inputs and requirements.
  • Help document and define core accounting rules, SOPs, and functional task workflows for automated features and AI-driven automation.
  • Validate and test: ensure accounting accuracy and alignment with standard practice across features; participate in testing and provide feedback.
  • Support QA, design and review: plan test coverage from an accounting point of view and define expected behavior in close scenarios.
  • Mock up scenarios and create data: build realistic test data and edge cases with engineers.
  • Prototype ideas on the ground: use AI tools to mock up and test ideas with the India team.
  • Review outputs: verify journals, reconciliations, and reports produced by features.
  • Apply hands-on experience across Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Bank Reconciliations, AP/AR, Payroll, Revenue and GL reconciliations to validate workflows.
  • Build the playbook library: draft and maintain accounting playbooks (e.g., payroll postings, prepaids, leases, intercompany) and ensure end-to-end test and cent-level accuracy.
  • Collaborate: work with Pune AIR, Principal AIR in the UK, support Product Marketing, and coordinate with Customer Success and other teams.
  • Any other tasks to help the company meet its goals.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of accounting experience, including at manager level or equivalent in public accounting audit or in industry (controllership, financial reporting, close ownership).
  • Chartered Accountant, CPA or equivalent qualification; public accounting experience preferred; mid-market or enterprise experience welcome.
