About the role

Critical Environment Technician in Microsoft CO+I, responsible for maintaining datacenter infrastructure, coordinating with vendors, monitoring equipment, leading incident response, and contributing to CE operations processes and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an operations specialist in one major area of CE operations (e.g., electrical, mechanical, controls, generators) and work on advanced tasks independently.
  • Inspect and supervise critical environment-related facility equipment (controls, HVAC, mechanical systems), building, and grounds for unsafe or abnormal conditions and escalate per policies.
  • Utilize internal CMMS to track equipment assets and complete work orders for maintenance.
  • Safely and quickly respond to and lead onsite incident response teams for abnormal conditions impacting operations, coordinating with other CE professionals for corrective repairs, without supervision.
  • Enhance, develop new or follow existing EOPs, MOPs, and SOPs related to CE operations and incidents.
  • Under minimal oversight, perform various types of maintenance (planned, predictive, corrective) and repairs per MOPs/SOPs for equipment (electrical, mechanical, cooling).
  • Troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within trained discipline.
  • Provide consultation to lower-level colleagues in troubleshooting systems and problems.
  • Understand and ensure safety and security requirements (JHAs, EH&S, toolbox talks) and follow business processes to perform work safely and reliably.
  • Demonstrate Microsoft values and culture.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND mission critical services work experience (e.g., data centers, manufacturing, hospitals, etc.) OR equivalent experience.
