About the role

Data Center Technician (DCT) responsible for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning IT datacenter equipment, with understanding of cabling, network, server, and storage interactions. Works within Microsoft CO+I to support core infrastructure for online services, with travel, 12-hour shifts possible, and no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with Data Center policies and deadlines; escalate issues as needed.
  • Reviews Process Change Notifications and understands impact to work; provide feedback on changes.
  • Completes assigned tickets efficiently in line with KPIs; seek guidance on complex tickets.
  • Receives guidance to develop understanding of standard processes for datacenter techs and equipment.
  • Completes security/data management training; may escort third-party vendors on-site; reports security concerns.
  • Participates in daily safety trainings and uses PPE; adheres to safety procedures; contributes to safety culture.
  • Travels up to 25% domestically; may work 12-hour shifts including non-standard hours.
  • Maintains awareness of KPIs; understands cross-functional data center processes; completes required training; seeks guidance as needed.
  • Supports service delivery by preparing, staging, and performing basic hardware startups/shutdowns; may work with others to follow procedures.
  • Performs decommissions, simple changes, and cabling/server/storage refreshes following procedures; manages data-bearing devices for destruction.
  • Escalates data center incidents; participates in bridge calls and on-site follow-ups.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware (or equivalent experience).
