About the role

Azure Device Registry (ADR) team seeks a Software Engineer II to design, implement, test, deploy, and operate highly available Azure services and APIs that manage device fleets at scale. Role includes contributing to ADR’s control-plane/data-plane architecture, integrating with Azure IoT services, and using AI-assisted engineering tools. On-site position in Redmond, WA.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cloud-scale distributed services, REST APIs, and Azure resource management experiences for Azure Device Registry.
  • Build features supporting device registration, identity, metadata, lifecycle management, querying, grouping, and fleet-scale operations.
  • Contribute to ADR control-plane and data-plane architecture, including integration with Azure Resource Manager and related Azure platform services. ADR's architecture exposes devices as Azure resources and integrates with Azure Resource Graph for device discovery and querying.
  • Develop integrations between ADR and services such as Azure IoT Hub, Device Provisioning Service, and Azure Device Update. ADR already serves as the registry and device-management layer in these integrated scenarios.
  • Diagnose complex distributed-system issues and improve service reliability, performance, scalability, observability, and operational readiness.
  • Participate in the service's live-site engineering practices and use operational learnings to improve the product.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools effectively and responsibly across the software development lifecycle, and stay current with emerging AI technologies and practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
