About the role

Strategic, hands-on Principal Software Engineer role within the Strategic Workload Acceleration Team (SWAT) under MCAPS-Core. Focus on architectural and programmatic oversight for strategic AI and platform resiliency initiatives, with hands-on design, build, and production deployment on customer projects to remove production blockers and drive customer value.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation in AI and strategic technologies aligned with Microsoft’s priorities: Leads identification of internal tools and creation of new tools, focuses on Commercial Success and platform/product adoption, shares best practices, stays current with developments.
  • Strengthen customer trust through enhanced platform resiliency and security: Define user requirements for complex scenarios, incorporate insights from feedback channels, lead continuous feedback loops measuring customer value and metrics, improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance, scale monitoring and operations, share knowledge with other engineers.
  • Drive strategic partnerships with a focus on customer experience: Identify, prioritize, and scope programs/projects with CxOs to significantly improve customer value, collaborate with engineering and product teams, maintain continuous feedback loops to measure value.
  • Hands-on technical role spanning design, build, and production deployment on customer projects with focus on issue resolution and removing customer production blockers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience

Benefits

  • Software Engineering IC5 base pay range USD 142,800 - 274,800 per year (general); USD 188,000 - 304,200 per year for specific locations (SF Bay Area and NYC)
