About the role

Deel is seeking a Backend Engineer skilled in Node.js and TypeScript to join the remote team supporting global payroll and HR platform operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in a cross-functional team to create seamless experiences.
  • Participate in product planning from discovery to deployment.
  • Develop and enhance features, APIs, and improve products.
  • Find and fix bugs quickly to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Ensure top-tier customer experience through quality engineering.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Backend Development with strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Experience with at least one other server-side language.
  • Strong SQL skills, especially PostgreSQL, including query optimization and data migrations.
  • Solid understanding of OOP and design patterns, with experience in building and extending classes.
  • Experience designing scalable systems for rapid growth.
  • Proven ability to optimize systems for high volume transactions, managing concurrency and performance.
  • Skilled in API development, including input validation, JWT tokens, and scalable, secure systems.
  • At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
