About the role

Deel is seeking a Backend Engineer with expertise in Node.js and TypeScript to develop and enhance features for their global payroll and HR platform, supporting rapid growth and high-volume transaction systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Frontend Engineers, Product, Design, and QA to create seamless experiences.
  • Participate in all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle, from discovery to deployment.
  • Develop and improve features, APIs, and ensure quality through bug fixing and performance optimization.
  • Ensure top-tier, customer-focused product experience through quality engineering.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript, with experience in at least one other server-side language.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL, especially PostgreSQL, including query optimization, data migrations, and modeling.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
  • Experience designing scalable systems managing rapid growth and high transaction volumes.
  • Proficiency in building secure and scalable APIs, including input validation, JWT tokens, and queue-based architectures.
