About the role

Senior Software Engineer responsible for architectural integrity, long-term scalability, and strategic technical direction of domains, with autonomy to lead cross-functional initiatives and solve systemic issues.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end development of medium-to-large features and systems, ensuring they scale over quarters and years.
  • Design and document system interactions for long-term maintainability.
  • Propose and drive technical direction at the team level to reduce systemic issues.
  • Improve system performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency within owned domains.
  • Lead the technical design, implementation, and delivery of complex systems and cross-functional initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Partner with Product Managers to establish timelines and priorities, balancing immediate business needs with long-term technical health.
  • Meet quarterly velocity and quality goals with high deployment standards.
  • Design AI-friendly APIs and build agentic workflows for accounting and finance in your domain.
  • Drive adoption of agent-first development workflow to deliver robust & scalable solutions.
  • Mentor 1–2 engineers regularly and guide peers across the team.
  • Act as a "go-to" engineer within your subdomain and proactively raise and solve team-level technical problems.
  • Provide constructive feedback to improve team performance and unblock peers; influence hiring, onboarding, and team culture; contribute to FloQast engineering blog.
  • Assist with other tasks to help the company meet its goals.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and scripting
  • Strong understanding of Java/Go, Python, and scripting
  • Proficiency with Node, MongoDB, AWS, React/Redux, or other MERN-style stacks or equivalent technologies
  • Commitment to testing and code quality; craftsmanship in projects
  • Ability to work independently within a collaborative agile environment
  • Proficiency with MongoDB, AWS, Springboot, or equivalent technologies (duplicate emphasis in description)
