Staff Software Engineer role on the Ode with Anthropic team, focusing on end-to-end technical outcomes with substantial coding time (roughly 75% in code, 25% client interaction). Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction, write code, and be the go-to person for hard problems on the team.
  • Spend ~75% of time coding and ~25% working directly with clients (often their CTOs) to understand problems, walk through tradeoffs, and ensure solutions meet client needs.
  • Contribute to building AI products for clients in a high-learning environment with strong emphasis on Applied AI engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of engineering experience, with deep care for the craft.
  • Shipped multiple complete products end-to-end and write elegant, production-ready code across multiple disciplines.
  • Specific interest in applying software engineering fundamentals to AI systems; balance frontier model capabilities with solid system design.
  • Comfort talking with senior technical stakeholders.
  • High ownership mindset; proactive, no-job-too-big-or-small attitude; wants to shape strategy and culture.
  • Low ego, high integrity; willing to help others and seek help when needed.
