About the role

Principal role across SentinelOne's AI SIEM, responsible for architectural reasoning across data ingest/storage, analyst workflows, and detection engines; drives cross-team architectural decisions, mentors engineers, and represents system health in leadership discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Build a working mental model of the full system, including ingest and storage, query and retrieval, analyst-facing workflows (alerts, findings, assets, incidents), and the detection engines (rule-based and beyond).
  • Drive cross-team architectural decisions that affect multiple parts of the system (e.g., ingest-time enrichment vs detection logic; how detection output shapes analyst views).
  • Partner with engineering leads of each pillar as a peer thought partner, influencing through technical credibility.
  • Identify and prioritize the highest-leverage architectural investments and present them to engineering leadership and product.
  • Get hands-on where it matters: prototype, review, and occasionally build connective tissue between pillars.
  • Establish and champion cross-cutting technical standards for APIs, data contracts, and service boundaries.
  • Mentor senior and staff engineers across teams to raise architectural thinking org-wide.
  • Represent the technical health of the overall system in planning and leadership conversations for roadmap purposes.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience (15+ years) building and operating large-scale distributed backend systems, with direct experience in at least two of: high-throughput data ingest/storage, query engines, or detection/rules systems.
  • Track record of reasoning about systems at the architecture level, identifying boundary and overlap gaps.
  • Experience designing APIs and service contracts that span teams and years.
  • Comfort operating without a single clear chain of command, influencing peers through reasoning.
  • Four-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
