Senior Commercial & Product Counsel
About the role
Senior commercial and product counsel responsible for end-to-end legal support on enterprise deals, data licensing, vendor relationships, and product/engineering collaborations related to AI and data access at Firecrawl. Second legal hire reporting to General Counsel, with hands-on negotiation, policy implementation, and development of templates and processes to accelerate deals while mitigating risk.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate enterprise customer agreements, data-licensing deals, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements, start to finish
- Serve as the legal partner sales and BD actually want in the room, not the one they route around
- Advise product and engineering directly on data access, privacy, AI, IP, and regulatory questions
- Take on novel and high-risk matters: AI output ownership, permissioning, licensing structures not standardized yet
- Build contracting processes, templates, playbooks, fallback positions, and approval thresholds to accelerate deals
- Implement company policies and compliance programs and ensure they run effectively
- Decide when to engage outside counsel and manage that relationship tightly
- Take on additional legal needs as the company grows
Qualifications
- Membership in good standing in at least one US state bar
- Preferred: JD from a T14 law school or comparable credentials
- Prior experience at Am Law 100 or comparable sophisticated firm (plus: exposure to data licensing, privacy, IP, or data-access issues)
- 5–8 years of sophisticated commercial, technology, or product counseling experience
- Experience negotiating technology agreements, not just reviewing them
- Ability to work autonomously and influence without heavy supervision
- Strong business advisory skills with clear risk assessments
- Comfort working with non-lawyers (engineers, sales) and heavy AI usage in practice

- Salary: $301,000–$324,000 USD/year, plus eligibility for up to $50,000 USD in semi-annual performance bonuses (up to $100,000 annually)
