About the role

Senior Engineering Manager leading the Work Environment area at Alan, responsible for building and scaling internal platforms (Alan Home and automation/identity tooling), shaping technical direction, and growing a growing team while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

  • - Lead and grow a growing engineering team within the Work Environment area, owning talent density, onboarding, feedback, and skill mix.
  • - Set technical direction, establish architecture standards, quality, security practices, and incident response for systems relied upon by all Alaners.
  • - Maintain hands-on involvement with code reviews and some coding.
  • - Build and internal, Alan-native software (automation platform, IAM, PAM, user lifecycle automation across 25+ systems).
  • - Define and uphold replacement criteria for external tools with ROI-driven internal solutions.
  • - Collaborate with product functions to shape roadmaps, trade-offs, and achievable commitments.
  • - Hire, shape, and guide the team to align with the company’s overall AI-native and prevention-healthcare mission.

Qualifications

  • - 3+ years leading engineering teams with a track record of building high performers.
  • - Experience establishing engineering excellence standards and guiding architectural decisions.
  • - Experience with modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools.
  • - Recent hands-on experience; still reviews code and writes some.
  • - Fluent in English (French a plus).
