About the role

You’re an engineer first with a legal background. Join Firecrawl’s legal team to turn legal advice into software—building contract review agents, policy checks, sales playbooks, and systems that demonstrate compliance with terms and commitments. Role blends software engineering with legal expertise, reporting to the General Counsel and collaborating with engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Build the legal team’s tools: contract intake, redline/review agents, a clause library, and customer commitment tracking.
  • Turn lawyers’ advice into production code in products and pipelines.
  • Address hard web data questions with counsel (terms of service, robots.txt, copyright, privacy, data providers for Alexandria) and perform technical analysis to support legal decisions.
  • Own the technical side of legal commitments and demonstrate compliance for customer security reviews.
  • Develop tools enabling sales and operations to handle routine paperwork without legal bottlenecks.
  • Identify legal risk in the product before shipping and fix it with engineering.

Qualifications

  • A real legal background: JD, or years in a law firm or in-house legal team. Bar admission is a plus.
  • Proven production software experience: Python or TypeScript, APIs, data, and LLMs.
  • Former engineer with law school experience or legal professional who builds with code; fluent in both domains.
  • Proficient in AI usage to accelerate work; ability to translate vague legal questions into clear rules and systems.
  • Self-starter capable of building and running this function autonomously.
