About the role

AI Engineering Manager on FloQast's Core AI team in India, leading a distributed team to architect and deploy production AI systems within a B2B SaaS accounting platform.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, manage, mentor, and develop teams of AI software engineers. Grow team members’ career paths through coaching, performance management, and feedback.
  • AI Technical Direction & Delivery: Guide architecture and delivery of scalable production AI products, including intelligent chatbots, document processing systems, and agentic workflows using Python and modern AI frameworks.
  • Recruiting & Site Growth: Actively recruit, interview, and retain AI engineering talent to build FloQast's Core AI capabilities in India.
  • Global Collaboration: Work with product managers, QA, architecture, security, and global engineering leaders to design and implement centralized AI platform (model routing, provider management, vector search).
  • Process & Culture: Foster an egoless, high-trust engineering culture, champion lean software development, Agile principles, and robust LLMOps/DevOps practices for AI systems.
  • Production Excellence: Ensure robust, compliant, and observable AI products that integrate with accounting systems and external APIs in a B2B SaaS environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering management experience delivering complex backend or AI products to paying customers.
  • 5+ years of experience as an individual contributor with strong Python, backend, and cloud-native (AWS) experience.
  • Production AI Experience: Familiarity with LLM APIs, RAG, conversational AI, and scalable AI product design.
  • Distributed Team Leadership: Experience leading geographically distributed teams across time zones.
  • Recruiting & Mentorship: Hands-on experience recruiting, interviewing, and managing performance and career growth.
  • Agile & Delivery Mastery: 5+ years in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) with emphasis on automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps for AI systems.
  • Communication & Alignment: Ability to communicate complex system designs and AI strategies to technical and business stakeholders.
