About the role

Talent leader to build a repeatable, data-driven recruiting engine, train interviewers, calibrate processes, and partner with leads to shape roles. Reports to Head of People; based in San Francisco or New York with in-office presence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of exceptional recruiters. Grow them, hire the folks we’re still missing, and shape the team as we scale.
  • Turn the hiring bar into a structured, teachable system: what we ask candidates to show, rubrics, interviewer training, and calibration with leads to ensure consistency across rooms.
  • Build a data-driven recruiting engine: own the tech stack and decide what to automate; develop recruiting analysis in Hex.
  • Partner with leads to shape roles before they open; provide guidance on appropriate profiles and team structure.
  • Hire for “weirdos” and maintain a process that can identify out-of-distribution talent.

Qualifications

  • You have a theory of talent and can define Hex’s recruiting philosophy (what’s valued, when pedigree matters, reading slope).
  • You’re a true partner to leads, able to design roles and challenge preset profiles.
  • You’re a builder with automation, scoring, sourcing infrastructure, and tooling mindset.
  • Experience leading and elevating a team, maintaining high performance culture.
  • You hold a high bar for candidate experience and hiring standards.
  • Direct, warm, and low ego communication; able to name and address issues openly.
  • You will initially run searches alongside the team (six-month window note: not a generalist leadership role).
